If you have a website then you probably think that you have it all figured out and that everything is a...okay? Right? Wrong! Having a great website is key to attracting and retaining visitors, and these days we all have numerous tools at our disposal for creating sharp, impressive and mobile-ready websites easily and quickly. The real problem is that while we have all these tools, it's finding out which ones are the best for what we are doing.
Here are 4 Key Elements and I might add very simple elements most companies are missing:
1.) Contact Information- Visitors need to find your contact information easily. Burying it in small print and camouflaged in superfluous content sends a bad message.
2.) About You Section- If you don't have one, you need one today! Spend time forming what it is you do, who you are and why you do what you do baby. It's also good to have some quotes from those who have given you business/used your services. Nothing speaks to your value and credibility more than a long list of happy clients.
3.) Appropriate Content- Now this can mean several things, but here is what we mean: Focus your marketing efforts on creating articles that establish your credibility as an expert in your industry. Write often and leverage customer feedback to create fresh and relevant content they want.
4.) KISS (Keep It Simple Silly)- No I don't mean "kiss" the competition or customers, but really you need to resist the urge to load your site with content and limit it to only what your visitor needs. I see so many companies and even non-profits and churches cramp so much info on their sites, it leaves my brain hurting. Keep it simple and enjoy the results of doing so.
Do you think you can follow these steps and make your site the best it can be?
I'd love to know what else you think is important to having great success on your website. Leave a comment below!
