You have probably been there. You have an amazing idea for your business, people want your services because they see how good you are etc. Well you may have what it takes to be an entrepreneur. The American dream is to have your own house, business and that whole white picket fence thing. So, how do you know if you have what it takes to live all of that and be your own boss? Take a look below and see how these 7 things could make you successful as an entrepreneur.
7 Things That Can Make You Successful as an Entrepreneur.
1.) Fake it, Till You Make It - Everything is mind related. Now I'm not a new age person, but I've noticed in my own life whether it be through my time in the Army, current jobs, music career and now my own business, that faking it till you make it doesn't mean you're cocky, it means to line up your confidence with what you do and do it. Leads to the next tip!
2.) Act Confident No Matter What- This is HUGE! Even when you don't get that contract, you don't feel as if you're worth it, maybe because you're not where you want to be etc. Confidence is a must in any area of your life no matter if it's business or not. People can smell confidence a mile away so lift your chin up and walk straight with confidence. I promise that it will land you more as well. Worked for me.
3.) Ask People For Help- I can't stress this enough. In my "long but short" years of doing business, I would think I didn't need anybody's help and would try and do things myself. WRONG! Ever hear that phrase, "No man is an island?" It's so true. Look at top companies today. Most employees, head bosses etc. are all corralled in one space. Why? Because you can accomplish more when you put your heads together and have others help you. In the end you come out ahead and even more knowledgable.
4.) Watch Who You Spend Time With- We have all heard that "time is money". How true is that. I was just talked with a friend about this. Who you spend time with can be so draining and honestly not worth your time. Now understand, people are worth it, however depending on what it is you're doing it may not be a great idea to sit around wasting time talking about things that aren't productive. So make smart decisions.
5.) Make a Great First Impression- All this means is to really dress the part. Did you know that it takes 5 seconds for someone to "make a first impression" about you based on how you dress? So how can you fix that? Dress the part plain and simple. Take care of yourself, workout, be healthier than you are, get a haircut, keep the beard trimmed, the list goes on and on. Either way always be ready to go at a moment notice.
6.) Be a Risk Taker- Do you take enough creative risks? I know a company I use to work for they were to set on their "standard stock way" of doing things, that they wouldn't let creativity come into play when getting more contracts/clients. Boiler plate ideas/items are great, but don't always go with every client. So be a risk taker and think outside the box. This goes for churches as well. How are you reaching outside the walls of your church? Take risks, reap more rewards.
7.) Do You Have a Biography?- We all see those "short" bio's online under everyone's profiles. That's great to give a simple intro to who you and or your business are, but do you have a good biography? I love using About.me for really honing in and letting folks know who I am and what I do, like to do etc. It's super important. So write your online biography today and why not give it a shot with About.me!
